Asia rider survey

26 March 2013

An online survey that Milliman performed in March provided senior life insurance executives an opportunity to express their views on the current and future rider landscape in Asia. The survey covered insurers from all of the major Asian markets, excluding Japan and Korea, and included 15 questions.

The general consensus among the 86 executives who responded to the survey was that riders will become more relevant in the near future, especially if the current low interest rate environment becomes the “new normal.” Against this backdrop and the growing popularity of critical illness and other medical coverage, now may be a good time for companies to revisit their rider strategies to identify ways to take full advantage of the opportunities.

This Asia e-Alert provides the complete survey results as well as commentary on the key findings.
