Matthew Smith
Matthew Smith is a consulting actuary with Milliman’s Health Practice. He is located in Phoenix, Arizona, and joined the firm in 2006.
Experience
For the last several years, Matthew has worked with numerous Medicare Advantage (MA) plan sponsors on the plan design and pricing of their MA bids. He has also worked with CMS bid and financial audits, and financial projections for both start-up plans and existing plans, considering service area expansions and new lines of business.
Matthew has worked with provider organizations on projects, such as risk settlement validation, contract negotiations, MSSP reporting, and benchmark development around prevalence and cost of members with selected conditions or types of procedures.
Matthew also has experience with pricing, reserving, forecasting, claims analysis, risk score analysis, hospital readmissions analysis, drug adherence rate analysis, and applications for federal funding grants and state insurance licenses. Clients served include government agencies, health plans, drug companies, hospital and physician groups, and other organizations.
