Stephanie Peterson is a principal and consulting health actuary in the Milliman Employee Benefits Consulting (EBC) Practice. Stephanie brings over 25+ years of experience in employer-based HR and consulting on HR strategies and day-to-day benefits operations. Her diverse background includes working with clients across industries such as government, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, oil and gas, nonprofit, and higher education. Stephanie is highly skilled at aligning benefits strategies with each client's unique goals and operational requirements. She is also recognized for her deep expertise in financial strategy, product development, and contract evaluation. Her personalized approach and commitment to delivering exceptional support makes her a trusted advisor in helping organizations navigate complex benefit challenges. Her extensive capabilities include:
- Contracting & Financial Analysis: Stephanie evaluates and structures carrier contracts that include performance guarantees, service guarantees, and other financial terms to promote favorable financial and service outcomes.
- Pricing & Product Development: Using leading industry tools (i.e., Milliman's proprietary Health Cost Guidelines and benchmarking tools), Stephanie is responsible for directing health plan design, benefit pricing, and product innovation.
- Risk Adjustment & Population Analytics: Stephanie assesses risk adjustment strategies and analyzes population health trends to maximize risk mitigation.
- Financial Forecasting & Reserve Analysis: Stephanie provides financial projections, claims reserve assessments, premium/rate projections, and strategic scenario modeling.
- Marketing carriers/vendors: Stephanie provides a thorough and in-depth RFP process for all lines of business, including those for medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, EAP, disability, life and voluntary products. Stephanie is also focused on innovative program models, integrated service delivery, alternative network structures, and coverage solutions for emerging populations.
- Compliance: Stephanie ensures plan compliance and is committed to keeping her clients informed. She is proactive in anticipating changes to current regulations and governing laws.
Experience
Prior to joining Milliman, Stephanie had nearly 10 years of actuarial experience in the insurance industry working in areas such as asset/liability management, financial reporting, and product development.
